Welcome to the Eve of Our Destruction

“My response to the “I am not a feminist” internet phenomenon….

First of all, it’s clear you don’t know what feminism is. But I’m not going to explain it to you. You can google it. To quote an old friend, “I’m not the feminist babysitter.”

But here is what I think you should know.

You’re insulting every woman who was forcibly restrained in a jail cell with a feeding tube down her throat for your right to vote, less than 100 years ago.

You’re degrading every woman who has accessed a rape crisis center, which wouldn’t exist without the feminist movement.

You’re undermining every woman who fought to make marital rape a crime (it was legal until 1993).

You’re spitting on the legacy of every woman who fought for women to be allowed to own property (1848). For the abolition of slavery and the rise of the labor union. For the right to divorce. For women to be allowed to have access to birth control (Comstock laws). For middle and upper class women to be allowed to work outside the home (poor women have always worked outside the home). To make domestic violence a crime in the US (It is very much legal in many parts of the world). To make workplace sexual harassment a crime.

In short, you know not what you speak of. You reap the rewards of these women’s sacrifices every day of your life. When you grin with your cutsey sign about how you’re not a feminist, you ignorantly spit on the sacred struggle of the past 200 years. You bite the hand that has fed you freedom, safety, and a voice.

In short, kiss my ass, you ignorant little jerks.“

It Did Not Start With Stonewall:
Black Lesbian Elders Tell Their Herstories

( Video uploaded on Jan 12, 2007 )

“Our revolution didn’t start with Stonewall. African American lesbian elders tell the tales of gay New York life in Harlem, Brooklyn and the Bronx before the world-altering Stonewall rebellion. In this clip they recall, raids and suffocating laws and racial discrimination faced within the gay community.” - On January 10, 2012 |  ELIXHER

Flying Fox Bat Happily Stuffs Her Face with Grapes. [video]

Holt shit looking for housing in San Francisco/surrounding areas is frustrating as hell. It’s either creepy 45 year old men looking for a college-aged female roommate, or apartments with no kitchen’s just a fucking hot plate, or like the rent is ridiculous!

I fight Rape Culture because
When I told my ex boyfriend about my rape
He ‘forgave’ me.

I fight Rape Culture because
I saw my baby sister age overnight
As she told me about her best friend getting molested.

I fight Rape Culture because
My closest friend was abused as a child
And he told nobody but me.
It took him 13 years to open up.

I fight Rape Culture because
My friends admit to letting their partners fuck them when they don’t want it
Then laugh it off as typical male behaviour.

I fight Rape Culture because
Saying that you’re raping someone is perfectly acceptable
If you’re playing a video game.

I fight Rape Culture because
Men tell me they are insulted when women walking in front of them start to walk faster.
As if their ego is more important than our safety.

I fight Rape Culture because
If I tell somebody their rape joke isn’t funny
I am told that I’m uptight.

I fight Rape Culture because
It won’t die out
Unless we kill it ourselves.

Surreal Animal Sculptures by Ellen Jewett

Artist Ellen Jewett’s surreal animal sculptures are a reflection of her extensive background in anthropology, medical illustration, exotic animal care, and surprisingly stop-motion animation. Dream-like and unique, Jewett uses potentially toxic materials, such as paints, glazes and finishes to achieve her desired results. Much like nature, filled with imperfections and lethal traces, Jewett’s goal is to deliver a raw, earthy product: one with fingerprints and other small flaws.

The world’s largest flower garden is called Keukenhof. It is located in the Netherlands. The first 2 pictures are known as the River of Flowers. It looks so beautiful that I just want to take a nap there on a sunny day. This garden covers 32 hectares and has around 7 millions bulbs planted each year. (More Information)
